Ctrl B: embolden blog

What makes Embolden such a great place to work (and a great firm to work with) is that we’re a team.  Not only do we respect each other’s talents, but we like each other as people, too, so we’re all on the same side.  The same side until last night, that is: when we broke into teams and took to the lanes for one of our occasional eTNO (Embolden Thursday night out) activities.  No professionals showed up last night, so the competition to break 100 was fierce.  The Belly felt right at home with this 8 pounder.  While Force-A-Nature employed an advanced combination of physics and zen to move the pins at Matrix-like speeds.   The Spare and Spare Part mixed it up for first place honors and naming rights, while free-agents Batman and Pinhead took a night off from crime-fighting and code-wrangling to revel in their neon and fluorescent glory.

Nine vanished in a cloud of chalk dust during the second string, while Backhand Betty stunned the competition with her smooth delivery and high scores.  Gutter Girl stood in for The Ref who arrived too late to save us from pinhead rulesourselves.  If score-keeping machines had a blue screen of death, we found it even before the first frame—thus proving that not all user interfaces are created equal and good tech support makes everyone happy.  Thanks go to Wolfan for helping to set this up and to Lang’s for hosting us!  Look for us on the lanes.  We may soon be bringing a whole new meaning to “duckpin” to an alley near you.embowldenitesbatman takes a night off

Re: Em-bowl-den Night Out!

That was a good time. The Buffalo Chicken sandwich, especially.

My only gripe was the ice cream vending machine, which made you insert money before telling you that there was hardly any ice cream to be acquired, and not disclosing this fact until you pressed each number on the pad - talk about bad usability! It was like that Monty Python cheese shop with no cheese for sale, and the proprietor making you ask for each kind, one at a time. Steve Krug would not approve!

I got the last Dove bar, though - twice the price and thrice the aggravation, but well worth it.

Oh, yes, and the bowling was fun, too!
