I have a confession to make:  I’m a techie and I love the printed document. I can’t and don’t read newspapers online and I cherish my morning cup of coffee with The New York Times and The Providence Journal. I love the feel, smell and weight of a well-designed report in my hands. But, I love a website that can - within seconds - persuade me to take action, challenge and inspire my thinking, or unveil unseen connections.

I don’t want to see paper and ink go the way of the Commodore 64 and I believe old and new technologies can, not only live together, but complement each other. Especially in these uncertain economic times, community foundations are looking for smart ways to save time, money, and trees. A great way to publish annual reports is to supplement a print run with an online report. Lessening demand for hard copies can save money and resources and printing an abridged report with supplemental materials online offers even more opportunities for conservation and creativity alike!  The written word can be brought to life with photo galleries, audio clips, video, links and charts. We can help you employ technologies to give greater impact to the storytelling inherent in a good annual report.

While document downloads remain a vital option for distributing your message and your financials (especially for those of us who just can’t get past wanting to hold it in our hands), this report season might be the right time to think beyond PDFs.
